West Vancouver Barracks Redevelopment
In February 2016 Pease Construction contracted with the City of Vancouver in the for the West Vancouver Barracks Redevelopment project. The project was project included historic building renovation improvements to the Infantry Barracks, Dental Surgery Building, Quartermaster’s Building, and the Artillery Barracks located within the Vancouver National Historic Reserve. These properties are all owned by the City of Vancouver and are operated and maintained by the Fort Vancouver National Trust. The objective of this project was to preserve and repurpose the four historic buildings for use as leasable properties. The barracks were be renovated into 12 separate studio and one-bedroom apartments. Construction included wall partitions to separate the apartments as well as bathrooms and kitchens in all of the units. Other improvements included a new HVAC system and refinishing the original flooring in the building. The outcome of this portion of the project was the preservation and repurposing of an historic structure that provides additional, affordable housing for the citizens of Clark County, Washington.
